The Best Fit : A Series Celebrating Best Friendships as Comfortable as Your Favorite Pair of Jeans | Meet Alex & Kelly
We love Galentine's Day, a holiday as sacred to us as any religious event or anniversary, when gals around the world celebrate one another and their friendships with each other.
Women truly make the world go round. We're celebrating female friendships this Valentine's Day by highlighting a handful of best friends for our Galentine's Day series, exploring friendships as comfortable and cozy as your favorite pair of jeans.
Meet Kelly & Alex: Besties Since (almost) Birth
Meet Kelly and Alex: two gal pals who met all the way back in third grade, destined to be besties. From day one these two were obsessed with each other's snacks and houses (just down the street from each other, thank you very much,) and since then Alex and Kelly have spent twenty-five years at each other's side.
In 2015, they launched Lively Craze, a lifestyle blog which they still run together. "When life threw us a curveball, we decided to take a chance. Lively Craze became not just a creative outlet to share our stories but also a space to learn and grow. And the best part? We get to do it together!"
From school sports to family-planning, these two ladies or should we say gal pals, have so much to celebrate—but especially having each other as Galentine's.
How did you meet and what was the moment you knew you were each other's best friend?
We met in school through sports.
Alex (A): She had great snacks, just like my house so I knew it would be a great match! But also we kind of just hit it off and it never felt forced to hang out, it's one of those moments when you just know.
Kelly (K): Alex was the nicest, most caring person—I had just moved to New York from Ohio and welcomed any new friends as the shy new girl. It also helped that my house was being built down the street from hers at the time.
What was your first impression of one another?
A: I thought it was so cool she knew how to do flips because she was a gymnast, but I wasn't a huge fan of her trying to make me do them on the trampoline...she was trying to kill me! ;)
K: To be honest, it's hard to even remember back that far with over 25 years of friendship! Alex was the cool 3rd grader and I knew I wanted to be friends with her and eat all of her snacks as her moms house was known to have all the best snacks (Her mom would even make sure to have my favorite snacks if she knew I was coming over!)
Describe your bestie’s personal style.
A: Kelly is petite and looks amazing in everything, and she just had a baby! Her style I'd say is trendy but casual.
K: Alex is a trendsetter! She will pick things out that I would never wear at the time and then all of a sudden six months later everyone will be wearing it and I will be like yup, I need that to. She is very good at layering and making cozy look chic!
You’re dressing your bestie in EDWIN—curate that outfit, what is she wearing?
A: Obvi the EDWIN's velvet blazer because I am obsessed with it, with your Crew Tee and Lark Bootcut Pull On Pant with Split! I think that would look amazing on her!
K: I am putting Alex in denim on denim, like the EDWIN Luna Shacket in Sheriden matched with the Hayley Pant in Lost, or—a fun leather jean! Like I said, this girl can pull off anything!

What would your Galentine’s Day gift to your bestie be?
Both of us: A girl spa day!!
A: Kelly has been crazy busy with Mom life
K: Alex has been crazy with never ending weekend parties and get moving into a new house.
What does your bestie REALLY want for Valentine’s Day?
A: Kelly loves to travel so i think a fun weekend getaway....probably somewhere warm too!
K: Alex would love to start a family! She has been going through IVF treatments and I would love it if this G-DAY she gets what she wants—she deserves the world!
One new experience you’re excited to have together this year? What’s next for this dynamic duo?
A: This one is hard because lifes been so busy but Kelly's son turns one this year so that's something I am looking forward to celebrating! We have been friends for over 20 years and now I get to be in her son's life too and watch him grow up...that's something really special!
K: For the dynamic duo (us), we have some weddings we both will be attending this year and some are more of a trip so I think that will be our fun this year...maybe we can sneak a summer weekend trip too!
