The Best Fit : A Series Celebrating Best Friendships as Comfortable as Your Favorite Pair of Jeans | Meet Angella & Taylor

This Galentine's Day, we're exploring friendships as comfortable and cozy as your favorite pair of jeans.

Meet Angella and Taylor: Two bicoastal besties who love the finer things in life but also know how to keep it scrappy. One is an arts writer (and our utterly adored EDWIN USA copywriter) and the other a designer and tailor in the world of denim. They met on a dance floor, kept each other afloat during the pandemic, and already have one southwestern road trip under their bestie belt.

Despite the distance between their cities of Los Angeles and Manhattan, they keep in constant touch. From denim, dancing, and long distance FaceTimes, these gal pals know how to keep their spark alive.

We caught up with this petit crew to see what Galentine's Day things they're up to.

First things first, how did you meet and what was the moment you knew you were each other's best friend?

A: For me it was a combination of hang outs but there are a few distinct moments: one in the back of a cab on the way to another dance party, FaceTiming during Covid Lockdown, and then sleeping on her couch and having topless stoned dance parties in her tiny living room. Tay has a remarkable sense of hospitality and she shares what she has in a way that makes me feel really safe and cared for.

T: We met at Our Wicked Lady (a venue in Brooklyn) where our friends were DJ'ing and Ang was wearing carnival jeans and a vintage Mickey Mouse shirt and red lipstick and her hair was really bouncy. I thought, "Who's this blonde? She's fun."

A: You said my butt looked amazing in those jeans.

T: They did. I think I was talking to someone and they asked if Angella was my best friend and I said, "Yeah I guess she is now." I think it was because our friendship came to be during Covid lockdown and we were texting a lot.

What was your first impression of one another:

A: She told me I had an incredible butt in a pair of carnival jeans that sadly no longer fit and she kept giving me joints and ciggies after knowing me for 5 mins. I knew this girl was fun and kind and was going to look out for me as a newbie in New York!

T: Instant love. She fit in with our group of friends immediately. She said something fun and then we danced all night.

Describe your bestie’s personal style.

A: She dresses for the desert in NYC which always blows my mind (never without a Tide white pen). She wears light monochrome fits with Western accents. Her hair always looks sleek and chic. Face card never declines. She has incredible taste. No one can pull off a pair of cut-off denim shorts with cowboy boots like this woman. Also her kerchief collection is unrivaled.

T: How do I say this? She has more animated accents, she loves a weird fun shoe and bright color. Whereas I go for a fun accent piece, she will go full force and wear a seafoam green suit. And of course, her famous purple crocs.

A: I wear a lot of men's wear.

T: I would say her number one accessory is a fun pant paired with a soft shirt.

You’re dressing your bestie in EDWIN—curate that outfit, what is she wearing?

A: Definitely the Cai Cut Off shorts in White Noise matched with the Crew Tee in Off White and mayyyybe the Luna Shacket in Sheridan, but unbuttoned.

T: The Lark Bootcut Pull on Pant in Burnt Sienna matched with the Crew Tee in Burnt Orange. She's always pulling off a bright monochrome look.

Celebrating Friendships: Meet Angella Taylor in The Best Fit Series

What would your Galentine’s Day gift to your bestie be?

A: A blank check because nobody knows what Taylor wants more than Taylor. But also, an endless candle budget, multiple trips to destination vintage stores across the nation, and fun, expensive manicures at least once a week.

T: I wanna get us another road trip through the desert but more mountains this time. Oh and I wanted to get her a bungalow with a backyard with a desk under a lemon tree with like a big bowl of berries and mint tea. Oh and a Mackenzie Child Courtly Check teapot.

What does your bestie REALLY want for Valentine’s Day?

A: A thick steak and a thick…just kidding! I just want her to feel stress-free, so a spa day, a shopping spree, and a steak dinner with a strong martini.

T: Hollywood money, a multi-book deal, and an expensive steak dinner.

One new experience you’re excited to have together this year? What’s next for this dynamic duo?

A: We keep saying we're heading to Iceland this year and/or to revisit the Petrified Forest in Arizona. We also need a Missouri-based roadtrip. We have a lot of plans, but we always have the best time just running errands, so honestly I just want to be in the same city as Tay!

T: I just need to come to LA for two weeks.
